James D. Casey IV Five Poems

Even the Worms

last night’s dream

brought me to a place

deep within a secret realm

my grey laced

golden mane

and tattooed skin

replaced

with animalistic hide

fangs, tongue, claws

all craving lustful embrace

I found

every manner of beasts

howling with pleasure

tangled bodies

in copulation

owls, deer, bears

wolves & snakes

even the worms

complete anarchy

glorious chaos

they welcomed me

into their forest orgy

I became one with them

until my awakening

aroused in feverish pitch

wet sheets

I long to visit

that dream again

to release my inner animal

and lay with the creatures

wildly free

is the love

of beasts

Chombo Thibideaux and The Voodoo Queen

blow that demon

off my shoulder

queef behind

my ear

on a leather book

night

in magick

knight

armor

the skeletons

in my

closet

roll the dice

and cast some

spells

to the sounds

of the

Big Easy

Chombo Thibideaux

and the

Voodoo Queen

dungeon master

turned gentle giant

because it learned

to love

half a bottle

of aged whiskey

half a joint

of Northern Lights

plus

a secret stash

war room

empty stares

and good times

inhaled intelligence

working on your

mind fuck

dreams

the key

that takes you

somewhere

anywhere

you want to

fly

just look at me

hey, look, you’re

here too

“That’ll do, Pig.”

William S. Burroughs and I

plugging holes in my books

last night with buckshot

such a surreal fantasy

I’ve dreamt of hunting

vampires with Bukowski

and getting in barfights

with Hemingway and dodging

bats with Thompson and being

lost in the desert with Jim

but this was different

we seemed to know each

other intimately like old

friends that hadn’t seen

each other in a while but

the strangest part of it all

was after we were finished

blasting my books to confetti

we shared a needle and he

looked me square in the eye

and said something so profound

it made me question my very

existence as a human being.

Busted Bones

Intermission of

silent souls,

changing color

behind a lit smoke,

sinking.

The Devil

made me

a free man,

flawed,

busted bones.

Fired

&

hired

again

on a hot day,

no water.

I put

two in his

chest,

no wussin’

out

now.

Run

for the

hills!

King of the Stone Age

chains

in meaning

in blood

in shadow

only the

heart

can under

bid

fear

no man

new life now

new lie

I think it’s time

to switch gears

sadness

to gladness

if it makes you

happy

laughing

together

all night

calm down

don’t flaunt it

who

found

who

translated

face to face

with the King

of the

Stone Age
